Health
At Melanesian Women Today, we understand that health is fundamental to empowering women and strengthening communities. Our health initiatives focus on grassroots efforts to improve access to essential healthcare, address the unique challenges faced by women, and promote well-being through a culturally grounded approach in the Melanesian region.
We collaborate closely with local health providers, traditional healers, and community leaders to create sustainable, community-driven solutions that prioritize women's health. The professionals who work with us are trained and certified experts from Melanesia, bringing not only their medical skills but also a deep understanding of local culture and customs. Their involvement ensures that health services are culturally relevant and accessible, while also serving as an inspiring example for other Melanesian women and girls to pursue professional careers in healthcare.
Through workshops, awareness campaigns, and outreach programs, we empower women to take charge of their well-being, making informed choices about their health. Our programs extend beyond physical health, offering support for mental health, nutritional education, and maternal care, ensuring that women have holistic resources to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
By fostering a culture of health that honors local traditions and values, we aim to break down barriers and promote resilience. Together, we are building strong, thriving communities where women not only access essential services but also become leaders in health advocacy, driving positive change and contributing to the sustainable development of society.

In our powerful first episode, we're diving deep into a topic that touches many of us: Intergenerational Trauma.
What is Generational Trauma?
It's the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events that are passed down through generations. This can stem from family struggles, community-wide issues, or the lasting impacts of historical events like colonization. These survival responses, whether showing up as heightened anxiety, difficulty with trust, or internalized beliefs about our skin, hair, and language, can become cycles we unconsciously inherit.
But cycles can be broken. And it starts with a conversation.
Join Gabrielle and Meiva as they bring their clinical expertise and cultural wisdom to this vital discussion. They'll explore:
🔹 The misconceptions about trauma.
🔹 How trauma connects to our identity—our language, skin color, and hair texture.
🔹 The patterns people are actively working to break.
🔹 What everyone should know about the path to healing.
