Student-Led Service Learning Projects

Melanesian Women Today proudly partners with Odyssey Middle School on Bainbridge Island, WA, USA for Student Led Service Learning Projects.

Students learn about Melanesia as a whole and the issues girls and women are facing today in the different countries and islands. Students learn empathy and experience what other women and girls lives are like. Sometimes students interact directly with girls and women via video conference which builds relationships.

Student teams conduct fund-raisers or collect needed items to impact communities according to the goals students have set in accordance with Melanesian Women Today's mission and goals.

In the past students have raised money to pay for scholarships so girls in the Solomon Islands can attend school. Another example, kids collected books to restock library shelves on the Island of Takuu.

Melanesian Women Today is actively looking for other schools, clubs, or groups of students interested in making an impact, learning project management and becoming young leaders who can partner with us and take up the challenge of a successful student-led service learning project.
