The Global Hub: Amplifying Melanesian Leadership Beyond Borders
Mere Tari Sovick as Honored Guest for the Fiji Day Celebration in Seattle, Washington, USA.
Melanesian Women Today serves as a strategic bridge between local, indigenous-led initiatives and global networks. Through our International Programs, we ensure that the voices, expertise, and priorities of Melanesian women are represented in global forums, academic research, and international policy discussions.
The 3 Pillars of International Impact
1. Advocacy & Global Representation We amplify Melanesian perspectives in international spaces, ensuring that our right to self-determination and cultural sovereignty is recognized. We represent the unique challenges and solutions of our region at global summits, climate conferences, and indigenous rights forums.
2. The Diaspora Connection Our international network connects the Melanesian diaspora with grassroots projects back home. By fostering solidarity among Melanesians living abroad, we mobilize professional mentorship, technical resources, and cultural exchange that strengthens our communities across oceans.
3. Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization We build cross-cultural collaborations with universities, NGOs, and global allies who respect indigenous leadership. These partnerships focus on resource mobilization that follows the lead of our local chapters—ensuring that international support directly serves community-defined goals.
Two Canoes. One Journey.
Our international approach follows the "Two Canoes" model: The local chapters are the vanua (the land/the lead), and the International Hub travels alongside—bringing what is needed, but always following the lead of the women on the ground. Together, we ensure that Melanesian women shape not only their own futures but the future of the world.
